Riverside Walk

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Riverside Walk

The Riverside Walk, or 'Bluebell Walk' as some locals call it, is a circular route following the River Finnart. Enjoy the stroll and the spectacular springtime show of colour from snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells

Looking back along the trail, lovely views are to be had of Loch Long.  Equally enchanting views are to be had of Loch Eck and its steep hillsides as you descend to Whistlefield from Ardentinny.

See also our pages on forests around Dunoon.

How to get there:

Riverside Walk can be started from Ardentinny Car park in Ardentinny and Glenfinnart which is part of Argyll Forest Park. Dunoon is the nearest town or village.

There are two equally appealing approaches to Ardentinny.

Take the car ferry from Gourock to Dunoon, and follow the A815 then the A880.

Alternately, take the A82 from Glasgow along the western shore of Loch Lomond through Tarbet, entering the Park at Arrochar, follow the A815 at Cairndow, then take the A880 to Ardentinny.

What's of interest

The much afforested 'Glen of Finnart' seperates Ardentinny from Whistlefield, Loch Eck. It was the scene of a fight with the Vikings prior to the Battle of Largs in 1263.
