Chase Heritage Trail

About Chase Heritage Trail

Opened in 2008 by the Princess Royal and funded by the Lottery Heritage fund and the Staffordshire Environmental fund, the Chase Heritage Trail runs from Cannock to Rugeley passing through Cannock Forest as well as other local beauty spots, passing close to historic sites that may have previously been difficult to access. The Trail is 10 miles in total, Birches Valley Forest Centre to Cannock Chase Visitor Centre is 1.6 miles / 2.6 km one way, return journey being 3.2 miles / 5.2 km.

The trail is graded to be suitable for wheel chairs, motorised scooters, bikes and walkers. Weather conditions, ground surface and gradients need to be considered before setting out to travel this trail.

How to get there:

Chase Heritage Trail can be started from Birches Valley Forest Centre in Cannock Forest. Rugeley is the nearest town or village.

Birch Valley Forest Centre to Cannock Chase Visitor Centre - is it 2.8 miles in each direction ie. 5.6 miles there and back or 1.4 miles in each direction ie. 2.8 miles total?
