About Dove Crag (Red Waymarkers)
This walk passes through North Wood, a semi-natural oak woodland, now a Nature Reserve, then continues to Dove Crag, a small ravine with a seasonal waterfall. The second half of the walk is across Holystone Common, a reserve that comprises of upland heather moorland and juniper, oak and birch woods.
How to get there:
Dove Crag (Red Waymarkers) can be started from Holystone Car Park in Holystone which is part of Rothbury. Holystone village, Rothbury, and Newcastle are the nearest towns or villages.
Travelling west through Holystone village, the car park is situated about half a mile past the village on the right.
