The red route is need of alot of repair & what ever they have used to make the trails seems to eat drivechain's for breakfast. For the amout the parking costs I would expect much better quality trails & only really interesting if your a beginner or plan on doing a sub 2hr lap. This the nearest trail centre to me, but I would rather drive to Hamsterley or Lee Quary than ride Dalby anymore.

Very run down washed out stony routes in lots of places with a desperate need for some upgrading and maintenance. Riding the Scottish forests where an obvious vast amount of time and effort has gone into planning routes so that they are fun to ride even with small jumps and burms built on level riding wherevever there is an opportunity. Also these Scottish forests trails will obvioulsy last and are much harder wearing as they have been prepared with hard core crush 'n' run limestone which blends into the surrounding scenary and provides a hard wearing course. The courses in this forest are prepared with sand which ruins your bikes running gea,r bearing etc, simply washes & wears out of the trails very quickly leaving both bike and trail in dis-repair. The 6 mile approx tarmac road is also very poor at the edges on route up to Dixons hollow as it is very narrow in places with 6 inch drop offs at the edge of the tarmac and if you meet someone coming a little too quickly from the other direction you run a great risk of coming away with a badly damaged car since it is either a case of the other car hits you or you have to let your wheels drop off the edge of the road and damage your track rod ends and steering rack, undercarriage of car etc or even just damage the inner edge of your tyre. This road is in desperate need of these ledges filling in in a lot of places so that peoples cars are not damaged accidentally when visiting the forest.

I have been riding Dalby for years.. love it but red route seems to be getting so run down due to lack of maintenance. They seem to concentrate more on the UCI course than the red route which is the route people travel to ride all year round.......(Even then only in the few months that lead up to the UCI's) Shocking sections in places. Slowly losing its appeal :(
