About White Horse View

A gentle walk following forest tracks between plantations. Used mainly as a dog walking route in the winter, but as the main attraction in the summer.

How to get there:

White Horse View can be started from Litlington Road in Friston Forest. Seaford is the nearest town or village.

Signposted from the A259 at Seven Sisters Country Park. Litlington Road car park can be found on the right hand side, approximately half a mile along this minor road, past the turning to West Dean village.

Wildlife

Mammals: Due to the ideal forest/farmland edge, badgers are numerous, making use of the nocturnal worming potential.
Roe deer are now resident, whereas fallow deer are more transient. We have information about Roe deer, Fallow deer and Badger

Birds: Charleston bottom is the best place to see famland birds, Yellowhammer and Barn Owl are resident. Passage migrants include Ring Ouzel and Red Kite. Look out for Owl boxes along the route.

Insects and reptiles: On south facing banks along the forest road, adders are to be found in large numbers. Black, silver and brown colour variations are found. We have information about Adder

Habitats: Predominately Beech forest, dissected by wide grassy rides with chalk downland asssociated species.
