The Beech Trail

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About The Beech Trail

This extension from the Fir Trail will take you through coniferous forest to Rishbeth Wood, which is an interesting mix of Pine, Oak, Beech and Larch. It is particularly attractive in Autumn and is a good fungus hunting area. On the approach to the wood you cross a sandy heathland and pass by the Thetford Warren Lodge, which dates back to 1400. This trail is 6 miles in length when linked with the Fir trail.

How to get there:

The Beech Trail can be started from High Lodge Forest Centre in Thetford Forest Park. Brandon is the nearest town or village.

The trail was great, just ran it with my dog. I calculated the distance as 4.2 miles using my GPS watch and checking via google maps afterwards. It certainly is more than 3 miles, so be prepared if you are taking the hile
