Cann Woods Trail

(Average user rating4 unrated 3.8/5)

About Cann Woods Trail

The walk covers a large area of Cann Woods and crosses the old Lee Moor Tramway which dissects the wood. This line was originally built as a branch of the Plymouth to Tavistock railway and was later converted to a tramway before closing in 1947. The tracks take you through varying habitats and allow for a fascinating walk with some interesting viewpoints along the way.

How to get there:

Cann Woods Trail can be started from Plym Car Park in Cann Woods. Plympton and Plymouth are the nearest towns or villages.

By car: Travelling north along the A38 turn off at the exit signposted Plympton. Take the first exit at the first and second mini-roundabouts and follow the road along past Boringdon Hall, Elfordleigh and the Woodside Animal Shelter. The Cann Woods entrance is on the left.

By bike: Follow the Marsh Mills-Clearbrook Sustrans route, and enter Forestry Commission woods at Plymbridge. Please note that cycling is not permitted on the Blue Walk.

Mammals: Depending on the time of day you start your walk you may see deer bounding across a track in the distance. Early morning or late evening is normally the best time to see them.

Agree with fact that a map is needed as people commented on 3 years ago. Has there been any feed back about maps??

I agree a map of all the tracks would be really useful as its difficult to navigate even with the 1:25,000 map
