Staple Hill Easy Access Viewpoint Trail

(Average user rating5 unrated 4.5/5)

About Staple Hill Easy Access Viewpoint Trail

Please note: We advise people not to use the trails during heavy snow, due to the danger of hidden hazards and dangerously hanging branches. The car park will remain open, but will be untreated and may be extremely icy. If you chose to use the trails or car park at this time, you do so at your own risk.

This trail allows everyone, including those with limited mobility, to explore the beautiful countryside of the Blackdown Hills from the car park at Staple Hill. New viewpoints have opened up some spectacular views across the Vale of Taunton. On a clear day you can see all the way to Wales.

The trail has been designed and built to national ‘all ability’ access standards so it is easy for everyone to use including those with limited mobility. The two viewpoints have picnic benches and seating and the kissing gates are big enough for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are also no steep gradients and the wide compacted path surface makes pushing wheelchairs and pushchairs easy.

How to get there:

Staple Hill Easy Access Viewpoint Trail can be started from Staple Hill Car Park in Staple Hill which is part of Blackdown Hills. Staple Fitzpaine, Corfe, and Taunton are the nearest towns or villages.

From Taunton take the B3170 through Corfe. Continue to the top of the hill, then turn left at the crossroads. The car park is signposted with a small green sign a further one and a half miles along this road.

It is a beautiful area and the kids love having a run around up there, as does the dog!! The only down side is the lack of litter bins and the amount of dog poo very close to the pathways :(

very nice, easy access but dont bring a high top campervan or you wont be able to enter the car park park, presume this is to keep out vans and lorries
