About Ridding Wood Walks

The award winning Ridding Wood Trail offers easy access to the forest for all and provides an exciting introduction to the visual arts, with nearly 20 sculptures sited along its length. Some of this sculptures can be played, some can be hidden within, all will bring fun and enjoyment.

How to get there:

Ridding Wood Walks can be started from Grizedale Visitor Centre in Grizedale Forest Park. Hawkshead is the nearest town or village.

By Road:

From the North (unsuitable for coaches):

A591 to Ambleside, leave Ambleside A593 to Langdale/Coniston. First left B5286 to Hawkshead. Bypass Hawkshead follow B5286 south then first right at tourist sign "Theatre in the Forest", follow to Grizedale approx 2 miles.

From the South and all coaches:

M6 junction 36 take A591 first exit A590, Barrow follow A590 past Newby Bridge Havethwaite Crossroads, right turn, tourist sign "Grizedale Forest Park", follow signs for Satterthwaite/Grizedale north.

By Rail:

Grange over sands to the south and then bus or taxi. Windermere to the east then bus or taxi.

Brilliant, had an excellent time on the trail. I am looking to create and design something similar in a local park. Who can I speak to about producing / obtaining the musical sculptures and to discuss how it was built ?

We had alovely walk with my 80yr old Mum on her scooter, my 11 year old daughter, our little dog and my sister and I - lovely setting and easy path
