Horse trail

About Horse trail

The network of horse trails within the wood provides extensive access for horse riders with permits. Most of the trail is on wide forest tracks and about half of it is surfaced.

Annual Riding Permits are available from the local office in person or over the phone on 01296 625825 (open Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings).

We also do a day permit if you wish to ride for a day, 'test' the trails before commiting to a year long pass or have a friend visiting. These can be bought from the lorest office in person or over the phone on 01296 625825 (open Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings).

De-boxing is available in our exit car park for day permit holders. This car park should be accessed directly off the main road, rather than using the one-way Forest Drive. Continue along the main road, past the Main Entrance for 2 miles. The entrance is on the right, then turn right into the exit car park. Another de-boxing area is located off Hale Lane for use by annual permit holders.

How to get there:

Horse trail can be started from Main entrance in Wendover Woods. Wendover and Aylesbury is the nearest town or village.

Signposted from the B4009 between Wendover and Tring. The main entrance can be found 250 yards along the St Leonards Road on the right.

Great riding and hardly anyone about. Well worth getting an annual pass for.

It seems to be a UK idea that horse riders are a nuisance and should be made to pay, and pay, and pay for their pleasure.

So how do I get a permit for a DAY visit with my horse? And where do I park? Why is it that there is so much palaver for one of the popular activities these days? Discrimination not to provide equally for horse riders
