Pucks Glen Walk

About Pucks Glen Walk

Please note the Upper Gorge section of Puck's Glen is closed until Friday 8th March for essential repairs to steps. (Updated 5th March 2013)

Puck’s Glen is one of the most famous walks on the Cowal Peninsula. It begins from the Forestry Commission car park at Puck’s Glen. The area is reminiscent of an enchanted kingdom, and leaves walkers with the impression that they may just come across a wood-sprite or other magical creature from the ancient world of Faery.

A waymarked path, originally constructed by the Younger family to lead to a folly on the hill, (now constructed in the Benmore Botanic Gardens), continues uphill, through a mixed woodland planted by the Estate in 1870. The steep, narrow gorge is interwoven with waterfalls and shallow rock pools spanned by arched wooden bridges.

The assistance of the Manpower Services Commission in redeveloping this path is gratefully acknowledged.

How to get there:

Pucks Glen Walk can be started from Puck's Glen car park in Benmore which is part of Argyll Forest Park. Dunoon is the nearest town or village.

There are two equally appealing approaches to the Argyll Forest Park from Glasgow.

Take the car ferry from Gourock to Dunoon entering the southern end of the Park near Pucks Glen, or take the A82 along the western shore of Loch Lomond through Tarbet, entering the northern end at Arrochar.

Follow the A82/A83/A815 to Dunoon.

One of the most beautiful, magical places I have ever seen, I would recommend it to anyone, cannot wait to go there again this year.

Absolutely love this place! Have walked this on a few occasions a couple of years back and returned again last month (December). It was just stunning. With the heavy rain, the waterfalls roared, the pools were full and the droplets from the mossed covered wall face were like showers of diamonds. This is truly a magical place. It is a must to see. I'll certainly walk this glen again.
