Kings Guard Trail
 

The blue waymarked all-ability route takes you to see the giant Douglas Firs, the biggest trees in Coed y Brenin alonside the Afon Mawddach. A yellow route, suitable for pushchairs, continues from the "King" to the "Champion" in a short loop which descends along the road back to the car park.

How to get there:

Kings Guard Trail can be started from Ty'n y Groes in Coed y Brenin. Dolgellau, Porthmadog, Bala, Barmouth, and Machynlleth are the nearest towns or villages.

Follow the brown tourist signs on the A470 and turn East just South of Ganllwyd village, 200m North of the Tyn y Groes Hotel. The car park is 300m down the hill by the side of the river Mawddach.
