Waterfalls and Goldmines
A riverside walk on forest tracks, suitable for pushchairs, to the beautiful waterfalls of Rhaeadr Mawddach and Pistyll Cain, the route passes old gold mine workings along the way. A shorter blue waymarked route returns across the wooden aerial bridge while a longer yellow route continues down stream to the Bailey bridge before crossing the river and returning to the car park along the road. This is also a family cycle route so please be aware of other users.
How to get there:
Waterfalls and Goldmines can be started from Tyddyn Gwladys in Coed y Brenin. Dolgellau, Porthmadog, Bala, Barmouth, and Machynlleth are the nearest towns or villages.
From visitor centre head South on A470 for 2 miles. On reaching the village of Ganllwyd turn sharp left immediately after the 40mph speed limit sign. Follow this minor road over a stone bridge and continue following the road on the right with the river Mawddach below. The car park is on the right at the end of the tarmac road after approx 1.5km (you will pass the pont caen y coed car park en route).
