About Yr Afon
This trail takes in some of the most picturesque parts of the river Mawddach. You will pass the gold mines of Gwynfynydd and ride along the length of the river valley to see the waterfalls.
-
It’s a relatively low level route on forest roads with no singletrack sections, but includes a short section of constructed track leading from the visitor centre.
- Whilst it’s a lovely trail for the family to enjoy, there is a longer section of heavily potholed private road and a couple of short steepish climbs. Take care on the return as there is a steep forest road descent so control your speed.
The "Gunpowder and Gold" MP3 based audio trail can be followed on this route from the visitor centre, pick up the start of the audio posts at the Tyddyn Gwladys car park. Follow the link for Audio trails on the right to download to your MP3 player.
