Sarn Helen Running Trail - Long

Forestry Commission Wales first waymarked running trails, planned with the assistance of the local Meirionnydd Running Club, following quiet forest tracks and footpaths (sometimes muddy!). The route climbs gently to the Cefndeuddwr ridge before descending to the Afon Gain and rising back over the ridge to return along the Sarn Helen, an ancient Roman road.

How to get there:

Sarn Helen Running Trail - Long can be started from Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre in Coed y Brenin. Dolgellau, Porthmadog, Bala, Barmouth, and Machynlleth are the nearest towns or villages.

East off the A470, 8 miles North of Dolgellau just North of Ganllwyd, South of Trawsfynydd. Follow the brown tourist signs.

OS Grid Reference: SH 725 272
