Sallochy Trail

About Sallochy Trail

Follow the red and blue way-markers. Look out for the oak, birch and sallow regenerating around the abandoned ruins of Wester Sallochy.

How to get there:

Sallochy Trail can be started from Sallochy car park in East Loch Lomond Woodland which is part of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Drymen is the nearest town or village.

From Stirling, follow the A811 to Drymen and then from Glasgow, take the A809.

From Drymen take the B837 for east Loch Lomond and Rowardennan. Sallochy car park is approximately nine miles along this road.

Mammals: We have information about Red squirrel, Red deer and Roe deer

Birds: We have information about Capercaille and Osprey

Nice wee climb through the woods. Only a portion of the way is on paths, the rest is through woodland so wear waterproof sensible shoes as it might be a bit wet and slippy. Beautiful views of Loch Lomond when you get higher up, with a chance for a paddle when you get back to the carpark at Salloch.
