About Biodiversity Trail
The Glenkinnon Burn is a beautiful, protected woodland running at the foot of Peel House.
The trail uses biodiversity as a theme to inform users of what can and can't be seen. It is designed for all ages and contains a picnic stop half way for you to take a rest and enjoy the view.
The information boards relate to the plants, animals and trees on site - making the science of biodiversity come alive, so look out!
Leaving from the awesome Glenkinnon Oak in the car park, walk up through the campsite to a small footbridge to the South. From here, you climb up to excellent viewpoints of the woodland. Follow the path waymarkers through mature woodland and glade, looping back to the start.
A map of the walk is available under 'what's of interest' on the right of the page.
This walk has been developed in partnership with Forestry Commission Scotland and Borders Forest Trust.
How to get there:
Biodiversity Trail can be started from Glenkinnon Car Park in Yair which is part of Forests of the Scottish Borders. Selkirk is the nearest town or village.
From Selkirk take the A707. Follow the road through Caddonfoot and take the first left down the hill and over the stone bridge.
Take the second left into Glenkinnon car park.
