(Average user rating3 unrated 2.3/5)

About Tower Trail

Please note, due to construction of the new Go Ape adventure course, weekday diversions will be in place on trails throughout Glentress from Tuesday 29th May 2012. The following trail sections will be diverted Mon-Fri until 13th June 2012 but will remain open at weekends. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Mountain biking
The Dougie Bank Climb - affects Blue/red/black
Good Game Descent - Blue route

Walking
Partial sections of Buzzard's Nest Trail
Glen Trail - partial closures of Dougie Bank.

Diversions will be in place to direct walkers and bikers.

Starting from the Buzzard's Nest, this trail climbs over Middle Hill to the shelter at the Kipps.

The rewarding views are then followed by a descent into the mature woodland of the Soonhope Burn. Common buzzards and roe deer are often seen along with many other scottish wildlife species.

How to get there:

Tower Trail can be started from Buzzards Nest Car Park in Glentress Forest which is part of Forests of the Scottish Borders. Peebles is the nearest town or village.

The car park is one and a half miles east of Peebles on the A72.

Once on forest road go past the Peel car parks and follow road uphill beyond Falla Brae car park. After about one mile, the road splits to the left uphill from the forest drive. The car park is well signposted.

Please keep to the 15mph speed limit.

Signposting for walks still very poor from Buzzards nest carpark. Can only assume FC have not got round to puting up their new signposts yet, despite response to post on 11 Sep below. Other than that, very friendly service when we phoned warden from Buzzards Nest asking for directions on where to start walk.

Planning to walk in Glentress for the first time tomorrow. A map of the trail-marked walks on the website would really help a new visitor like me.

We're putting in new walking information at the Buzzards Nest car park to provide better details for walkers which should help.
