Crib Law Trail

(Average user rating3 unrated 3/5)

About Crib Law Trail

The outward leg of the Crib Law trail offers intermediate mountain bikers a real work out. 250 vertical metres of climbing on forest roads and cycle paths is rewarded with magnificent views of the Borthwick Valley. The descent is fantastic and on singletrack.

How to get there:

Crib Law Trail can be started from Craik Car Park in Craik which is part of Forests of the Scottish Borders. Hawick is the nearest town or village.

From Hawick, follow the A7 towards Carlisle.

At Martins Bridge, turn onto the B711 and follow this road until you come to Roberton, which is a very small village and school. Just beyond the school, turn down to the left and then follow the unclassified single track road. Craik Forest is well sign posted.

3 Stars 3 Stars

I totally agree with the above comments. Potentially a fantastic trail that would attract more visitors, BUT the failure to maintain it is really disappointing. The annoying diversion due to fallen trees totally spoils the experience. That aside I am still going to give it 3 stars.

Stuart Cuthbert, 3/May/2011

Criblaw red route is in need of maintenence, the young spruce trees on the singletrack have started overcrowding the trail and windblown trees have caused the trail to be diverted and these tree have not been moved and have sat there for a long time. The potential of the route is big this was a great track and could be again with just a little attention to it.
