About Ancestors Trail
This trail on forest paths and tracks contrasts the oak and beech wood with planted pine and larch forest. The beech, which casts a heavy shade, is gradually being cleared to allow natural oak regeneration.

Wildlife
Mammals: The mix of broadleaf and conifer woods provide good habitats for a great variety of small mammals. Woodmice feed on the beech mast while red squirrels extract seeds from the pine cones. We have information about Red squirrel
Birds: Many woodland birds make their home here, including coal tits, siskins and wrens. Listen out for the distinctive drumming of a greater spotted woodpecker.
