Lochside Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Lochside Trail

We are redoing the trails at Cambus O'May soon. This route is currently  waymarked with temporary signs. We apologise for any inconvenience.

This short trail begins by leading you along a glacial ridge, with superb views south into the Dee valley. On a fine day you'll see Lochnagar in the distance.

The trail then turns right and goes past a shallow lochan, created by a glacial kettle-hole. Cross over the bridge and return to the car park by the old quarry road.

How to get there:

Lochside Trail can be started from Cambus O' May in Forests of Moray and Aberdeenshire. Ballater, Aboyne, and Dinnet are the nearest towns or villages.

Cambus O'May Wood lies on the north side of the A93 between Ballater and Dinnet.

From Ballater, take the A93 east. The Cambus O'May car park is sign posted on your left roughly four km from the edge of Ballater. There is a bus stop at the forest entrance.
