James' path

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About James' path

James Cameron was a resident of Inniemore when the settlement was cleared in 1824. According to the account of his wife, Mary, he carried his aged mother away in a creel on his back.

This path commemorates that feat. Although it does not take his actual route, it is nevertheless quite steep in places as it winds upwards from the car park to the deserted settlement.

James' Path stops at the entrance to the village. From there you can wander round the township paths and return by the same route or on Mary's Path.

How to get there:

James' path can be started from Inniemore Car Park in Lochaline. Lochaline is the nearest town or village.

Head north, out of Lochaline. After about three miles, take a left turn towards Kinloch (Teacuis) and travel along the southern shore of Loch Arienas until you see the signs for the car park and historic village on your left.
