Red Trail

About Red Trail

The Red Trail starts at the more northerly car park beside the Forest Garden (NH196811).

From the car park, take the steps which lead up to a wooden kissing gate. Continue up through open pine forest to reach more steps and the forest road.

Turn right and follow the road for about half a mile until the path bears downhill to the right. This brings you down to the opposite end of the Forest Garden - any of the paths in the garden will take you back to the northern car park.

How to get there:

Red Trail can be started from Lael Forest Garden Car Parks in Lael Forest. Ullapool is the nearest town or village.

From Ullapool, follow the A835 south for approximately 10 miles, passing the head of lovely Loch Broom.

You will reach a large Forestry Commission sign indicating the Forest Garden on the left side of the road.
