Farleitter Crag Trail
This is a fairly strenuous walk ascending Farleitter Crag by the ridge, with some magnificent views. Follow the red waymarkers from the car park going anti-clockwise underneath the rockface clothed in lichens and mosses, with some huge Norway Spruce on the left. Climb uphill through 120 year old Scots Pine before branching off to the right on a path along the ridge. Below lie the jewel-like Uath Lochans, whilst beyond lies Glenfeshie and the pine clad mountain slopes of Inshriach. Round the corner is a large cairn and superb views of the Spey Valley and Loch Insh. Head downhill from the cairn (following red/green waymarkers), before picking up the red only markers which will take you further downhill before curving back below the Farleitter Crag, eventually returning to the car park.
How to get there:
Farleitter Crag Trail can be started from Uath Lochans Car Park in Inshriach Forest. Kincraig is the nearest town or village.
From Kincraig, take the road opposite the memorial stone in the middle of the village, which leads down to the wooden bridge over the River Spey. Carry on this road for about 1 mile to reach a T-junction. Turn right, and after 0.5 mile, a minor road appears on the left beside Insh House. Take this road for 1.5.miles to where a Forest Enterprise sign appears on the right just before a forest road. Take this road to reach the car park.
