Dun Deardrial walk

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Dun Deardrial walk

A longer walk initially following the West Highland Way route, leading you from the base of the Glen through large Sitka plantations out onto the open hill for a final steep push onto an exposed summit giving fine views in all directions, particularly onto Ben Nevis and the Mamores.

On the summit of this hill you will find Dun Deardail. This is a vitrified Fort from the Iron age - it was set on fire to fuse its stone walls together - but why and how is a mystery!

How to get there:

Dun Deardrial walk can be started from Braveheart in Glen Nevis. Fort William is the nearest town or village.

Once you have entered the glen at the roudabout, the car park is approximately two km further on, on the right, and is well signed.
