Am Meallam Walk

The Am Meallan is a short walk but it climbs to an exellent viewpoint looking across Loch Affric and towards the western hills including the impressive Mullach Fraoch-choire, 1102m (3582ft). One of the several 'Munros' in Glen Affric. There is a tribute cairn here to Professor Steven and other foresters who have worked to save the pinewoods in Glen Affric.

How to get there:

Am Meallam Walk can be started from River Affric Carpark in Glen Affric. Cannich, Tomich, Struy, Beauly, Balnain, Drumnadrochit, and Inverness are the nearest towns or villages.

From either Beauly or Drumnadrochit, take the A831 to Cannich, then the unclassified road signposted Glen Affric. After two miles, at the Fasnakyle power station, turn right to Glen Affric. The River Affric carpark is ten miles along this road., There is an infrequent bus service from Inverness as far as Cannich.
