Red Trail

(Average user rating1 unrated 1/5)

About Red Trail

Take the path that leaves the car park beside the green Forestry Commission sign. Follow the trail to where it meets the forest road and bear to the right, following the red waymarkers. A short distance to the left is a link to the city of Inverness. Even if you are not going to the city it is well worth walking the short distance to capture the magnificent view.

After about one mile, the route leaves the forest road and heads into the forest on a footpath. Continue along this path until a forest road is again reached. Turn to the left and follow the road back to the start point.

How to get there:

Red Trail can be started from Daviot Tourist Information Centre Car Park in Daviot Wood. Inverness is the nearest town or village.

This site is easily accessed from the A9 north-bound carriageway approximately five miles to the south of Inverness before heading down Drumossie Hill. Turn left off the A9 just after the Tourist Information Centre signs.

there is a point in the red track where it is unclear if you go right or left as the marker is between both, we had to turn back very disappointing!!

Thanks for informing us about this. During facility inspections we can sometimes get too close to things and miss something obvious to a third party and can only improve with such feedback. We will put in an additional post asap, and review the waymarkers at the next scheduled inspection.
