The Loch Trail

An easy trail designed to accomodate all abilities. From the car park, follow the brown waymarkers parallel with the loch edge through some very old Scots Pine trees. There are many spectacular views to be enjoyed looking over the water, and an early morning or evening stroll can be particularly rewarding. The path then turns away from the loch and follows the Abhainn Ruigh-eunachan through birch, pine and alder trees - look out for dipper, wagtail, heron and sandpiper along the riverbank. The path then bears to the left until it reaches the pavement beside the public road. Follow this to the entrance to the Glenmore Campsite on the left. Turn in here and continue through the campsite to return to the starting point.

How to get there:

The Loch Trail can be started from Watersports Car Park in Glenmore which is part of Glenmore Forest Park. Aviemore is the nearest town or village.

Take the ski road from Aviemore towards the Cairngorms and after six miles you will be in Glenmore Forest Park. Drive along the side of beautiful Loch Morlich to reach the Watersports Car Park which is situated on the right at the far end of the loch. The Watersports Centre is the large wooden building on the beach beside the loch.
