Ryvoan Trail
About Ryvoan Trail
A longish but very rewarding walk with difficult and narrow sections. The path starts behind the visitor centre and climbs up into the forest. A long level section along a forest road surrounded by planted Scots Pine gives way onto a narrow rocky path which meanders through a pristine area of natural Caledonian Pine, Birch and Juniper woodland.
The path then drops steeply down to "Lochan Uaine" - the Green Lochan. Return by the lower Ryvoan Pass trail, branching off left onto a path through the woods just before Glenmore Lodge.
Turn right when the river is reached and continue to the main road. Cross over, still following the river and return to the visitor centre along the lochside trail
Remember to wear strong hill-walking boots.
How to get there:
Ryvoan Trail can be started from Glenmore Forest Park Visitor Centre in Glenmore which is part of Glenmore Forest Park. Aviemore is the nearest town or village.
After you enter Glenmore Forest Park, Loch Morlich is on your right-hand side. Once at the east end of Loch Morlich, you pass a shop on the right before reaching the Glenmore Caravan and Camping site.
Directly opposite the entrance to the campsite is the access road into the Visitor Centre - lookout for the big green sign!
