Milton Walk

 

The Milton walk is the longer walk in Craigmonie woodland. It winds through mostly planted conifer trees to a viewpoint over the village of Milton. Milton is named after the several mills that used to be there in the 1800's. Along the way there are posts to help you to identify some of the trees that you will pass. There are a couple of short but steep sections on this walk. You can also make a longer walk and visit the viewpoint at the top of Craigmonie by starting on the Milton walk and joining the Craigmoinie walk at the junction between the two.

How to get there:

Milton Walk can be started from Craigmonie Access Point in Craigmonie which is part of Glen Urquhart. Drumnadrochit, Lewiston, and Balnain and Inverness are the nearest towns or villages.

From the A82 at Drumnadrochit, turn up onto Pitkerrald Road. After 200 metres, take the left hand fork onto a rough farm track, then another left hand fork soon after. Craigmonie woodland is another 200 metres along here on the west side of the track., There is no parking, so it is better to park in the village carpark, adjacent to the A82 and follow these directions on foot., There is a bus service between Inverness and Fort Augustus which stops at Drumnadrochit.
