Loch Avich Walk
 

This walk explores a range of woodland types, taking you first into the Dalavich Oakwood, through the conifers at the heart of Inverliever forest and then past the flushed peat bog of the Dry Loch. You then drop down to the birch woodland along the shore of the beautiful and peaceful Loch Avich.

How to get there:

Loch Avich Walk can be started from Barnaline in Inverliever Forest which is part of West Loch Awe. Dalavich is the nearest town or village.

From Lochgilphead -, A816 to 1 mile north of Kilmartin. , Follow the B840 to Ford then the unclassified road to Dalavich. Barnaline car park is at the eastern end of the village., From Oban or Glasgow - , Follow the A85 to Taynuilt then the unclassified road south to Kilchrennan and Dalavich.

Mammals: Pine marten, fox, wild cat, red and roe deer, otter and red squirrel all live in this forest. We have information about Red squirrel, Red deer, Roe deer and Otter

Birds: Loch Avich is particularly good for water fowl and you might be rewarded with a sighting of a red or black throated diver, pochard, widgeon, golden eye, merganser or tufted duck. We have information about Osprey

Insects and reptiles: We are actively managing parts of this forest for butterfly conservation we especially hope to encourage the fritillary species.
