Lochan Buic cycle trail

From the car park which over looks the Crinan Canal the trail follows the forest road through the mature mixed conifer and broadleaved woodland of Dunardry Face. Openings amongst the trees give views down to boats negotiating the canal locks. The trail passes Dunans Farm where you can take in great views west over the forest. About 1 mile beyond Dunans there is a fork in the trail. Turning right leads you to the beautiful Lochan Buic where a wealth of wildlife including dragonfiles, moorhens and divers can often be seen. Even if the is no wildlife to see, the loch provides a great half waypoint on the route to sit and relax. Soon the trail brings you to the public road. Here you have the option of turning left to reach the small village of Achmamara. At the far end of the village the trail returns to the forest bringing you back through Dunans to Dunardry. A right turn onto the public road takes you to Barnluasgan Visitor Centre where display panels interpret the life of the forest, its history and wildlife. From Barnluasgan the road takes you to Bellanoch where you meet the Crinan Canal, which you follow to the east to rake you back to Dunardry.
