Ardmore and Glengorm cycle route

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Ardmore and Glengorm cycle route

This route takes you through the forest and  downhill through mature larches, pines and spruces, along the coast, returning by the county road.

The route forks left here, but if you take the right fork it will bring you within 150m of the sea, and show you exceptional views of Ardnamurchan Point.

Continue on the left hand fork along the Achanna na Taobhan for one km, and at the first sharp bend to the left look into the trees to the right of the route to see the remains of the old farmhouse at Ardmore.

Further along the road, views of Coll, Tiree and Ardnamurchan open out where the trees have been dwarfed by the salt-laden winds.

The road once again enters close forest until you come to the gate into the fields of Glengorm estate. Cross the fields for 300m and you return to the county road. Turn left to Tobermory (four miles away)

How to get there:

Ardmore and Glengorm cycle route can be started from Ardmore Car Park in Ardmore. Tobermory is the nearest town or village.

Travelling to Dervaig from Tobermory on the B8073, take the turning for Glengorm on the outskirts of Tobermory. The car park is about one mile along this road on the right-hand side.
