(Average user rating4 unrated 4/5)

About Ardgartan Peninsula Circuit

This circuit is a grand tour of the wild, rugged and remote Ardgartan Peninsula - with excellent views of the Clyde and the surrounding mountains.

Although the route is mostly on forest roads, small sections are on public roads and parts are off road. The circuit is best tackled from one of the three starting points in a clockwise direction, and can be broken by admiring the views from the picnic area provided.

Food and toilet facilities are available at Lochgoilhead.

How to get there:

Ardgartan Peninsula Circuit can be started from Ardgartan in Ardgartan which is part of Argyll Forest Park. Arrochar is the nearest town or village.

From Glasgow, follow A82 beyond Loch Lomond to Tarbet. Then take the A83 through Arrochar towards the Rest & Be Thankful. Ardgartan Wood is on your left hand side.

There is a cycle route waymarked which takes in part of Coillessan Glen as well as part of the Ardgartan shore, it is approx 14km long and moderate to difficult in places.

I cicyle the circler route on average 5 times a year. I find the route both rewarding and challenging. A good endurance route that tests your cycling skills and fitness level. The scenery along the way is fantastic.
