Ord Hill Walk (Green Trail)
 

In early summer you can see flowers such as self heal, eyebright and also the occasional orchid on the path edges. The picture on the right is eyebright - seen in the forest between June and August.

In the autumn lots of fungi appear in the forest.

How to get there:

Ord Hill Walk (Green Trail) can be started from The Bin Forest Car Park in The Bin Forest. Huntly is the nearest town or village.

Follow the A96 north beyond Huntly. After approximately 2 miles the car park is sign-posted off to the right.

Mammals: Red squirrels and roe deer can be seen early morning and at dusk. We have information about Red squirrel and Roe deer

Birds: Many woodland birds can be seen, look out for the occasional crossbill flocks. Birds of prey such as buzzard, sparrowhawk and peregrine can sometimes be seen too.

Insects and reptiles: In many of the fire dams we have newts.
Butterflies include Red Admirals, Meadow Browns,Scotch Argus. Mountain Ringlets and many more.
