White cycle trail
 

Suitable for good mountain bikers: this route leads around the lower edges of the forest and around Cairn William and Pitfichie Hill.

Gradient: Moderate with some steep sections.

Surface: Mostly on forest road with about 10% rough track.

Trail suitable for walkers and horse riders.

How to get there:

White cycle trail can be started from Whitehills Car park in Pitfichie. Monymusk is the nearest town or village.

Follow the B993 out of Monymusk towards Alford. After approximately 2 miles turn right at the sign for Whitehills Cycle Trails. Follow this road for about 0.5 miles to the car park.

Mammals: Red squirrels and roe deer can be seen early morning and at dusk. We have information about Red squirrel and Roe deer

Birds: In the woodland look out for birds such as blue tit, coal tit, great tit, siskins, greenfinch, goldcrests and long tail tits. On the open hill look out for the occasional black grouse. Ospreys often fly overhead in the summer as they nest close to the River Don.
