Tackeroo Orienteering Course
Tackeroo Orienteering course was re-designed and re-set with the help of Walton Chasers Orienteering Club over the winter (04/5) and is now fully open. Although the course has been designed with school groups in mind it offers an ideal training ground for any orienteer. Situated close to the facilities at Birches Valley Forest Centre the course runs through undulating pine forest a range of vegetation.
Orienteering maps are available from the forest office and forest cafe at a cost of £1 each. Please contat us if you are planning an orienteering event using Tackeroo.
How to get there:
Tackeroo Orienteering Course can be started from Birches Valley Forest Centre in Cannock Forest. Rugeley is the nearest town or village.
From Rugeley head towards Penkridge along Hagley Road. The road changes into Penkridge Bank road as it enters Cannock Chase AONB. The Forest Centre is signposted on your left., From Stafford head towards Cannock on the A34. Follow the signs for Pye Green or Rugeley. Once on Cannock Chase continue to head for Rugeley until signs for the centre on your right.
