The dark outline of Simonside dominates the middle reaches of Coquetdale. For thousands of years, people have been drawn to this landmark, on occasions to bury their kinsfolk in stone-lined graves (cists). Today, walkers from all over the region are attracted by the dramatic views. The Ridge Walk climbs to the top of Simonside Crag (419 metres), where a spectacular 360-degree panorama of the Cheviots and of the whole of the Northumbrian coastline is revealed on a fine day.

I really love walk, even my little Corgi manages the climb well. I reccomend this walk to people all of the time as though it can be challenging, it's well worth it!
Hi there wanting to take my border collie for a walk found simonside today just wondering if there is any sheep around the crags as I don't want to disturb then due to lambing season
Forestry Commission Response
The top of Simonside is a very important site for ground nesting birds and all dogs must be on a short lead at this time of year to avoid disturbance

Walked up to Simonside today and loved the views. I'm not an experienced walker and still managed it but would definitely recommend walking boots. Fantastic views on the whole of the walk through the Forrest up to the top of the ridge and then enjoyed them with a picnic. If you like the outdoors and great views you need to do this walk
