Working Forest Open Day
An unmissable opportunity to go behind the scenes and find out how England’s largest forest is managed. Get ‘up close and personal’ with some monster timber harvesting machines and not quite so massive but more traditional horse-loggers, and watch both in action deep in the forest. There is also the chance to have-a-go at planting a tree to add to the 3.5 million planted every year – all by hand!
Kielder Forest isn’t all about trees. This day out also gives you the chance to visit Britain’s newest observatory perched high above the North Tyne Valley and find out more about the exciting developments planned for the forest over the coming years.
Booking is not essential but strongly recommended, as places on the minibuses are strictly limited.

Kielder Forest accounts for 25% of England’s timber production
