Duke's Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Duke's Trail

This is a pleasant stroll thorough the grounds of Kielder Castle and the adjacent woodland. There are observation points offering views of wildlife feeding areas where the forest’s many birds and Britain’s native red squirrel may be seen.

The first mile of the Duke’s Trail, with slight inclines and fine graded stone and tarmac surface, is designed for use by wheelchair users and families with buggies. The remaining two miles is on a mixture of forest road and surfaced path. One sharp descent through Ravenshill Wood renders this section of the trail unsuitable for unaccompanied wheelchair users.

How to get there:

Duke's Trail can be started from Kielder Castle Forest Park Centre in Kielder which is part of Kielder. Kielder Village near Bellingham is the nearest town or village.

Kielder Castle is situated at the northern end of Kielder Water, off the C200.
