Borderline

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Borderline

The majority of this route follows the former Border Counties railway line (operational from 1862 to 1956) making it a relatively flat and easy ride, suitable for all abilities. The surface is mainly grassy tracks with occasional stretches on tarmac road. Starting at Kielder Castle, the trail joins the old railway just north of Kielder Village. The route runs parallel with the North Tyne (in its infancy at this point) and takes you through open countryside and fantastic views, to the Scottish Border at Deadwater Station. To return to Kielder, retrace your tracks to the village.

How to get there:

Borderline can be started from Kielder Castle Forest Park Centre in Kielder which is part of Kielder. Kielder Village near Bellingham is the nearest town or village.

Kielder Castle is situated at the northern end of Kielder Water, off the C200.
