Corbett Easy Access Trail

(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

About Corbett Easy Access Trail

Follow the yellow waymarkers along this surfaced trail through mixed woodland with frequent benches.  Visitors with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies should find this walk suitable.

The Corbett Family were the owners of Sundorne Estate from the late 1700s to the 1950s and once owned Haughmond Hill, the Abbey and much of the surrounding land.

Horse riders and cyclists are asked not to use this trail and follow the diversion from the car park.

How to get there:

Corbett Easy Access Trail can be started from Haughmond Hill Car Park and Picnic Site in Haughmond Hill which is part of The Marches. Shrewsbury is the nearest town or village.

Take the Shrewsbury to Newport road, B5062, turn right after Haughmond Abbey. After 500m, turn right again into the car park.

Well said Anonymous!Come on Forestry Commission and get it right - just don't waste a king's ransome in tax payers' money changing "Corbett" to "Corbet". Changing your website shouldn't cost anything and it shouldn't take 5 months!

The family to whom you refer were always spelt CORBET, not CORBETT. (The latter spelling applies to the CORBETTs of Longnor). This is quite clear from sources such as Burke's Landed Gentry all editions to 1937. Also you must have a copy of their earlier title in your own deeds relating to the 999 year lease that I believe that you hold on Haughmond. (I live in Sundorne).
Pure sloppiness.
