Exploring this truly ancient Forest by bicycle is the ideal way to discover the magnificent beauty and fascinating wildlife that can easily be missed by car. To help protect this unique environment and improve visitor enjoyment an off-road and road-based cycle network has been created. The network links the main New Forest villages and the railway at Brockenhurst, by the safest and most attractive routes. From Blackwater you can cycle along the magnificent Rhinefield and Bolderwood Ornamental Drives or head off onto the waymarked Forest tracks to, Bank, Brockenhurst or further afield. A map of the cycle network along with cycling codes of conduct can be downloaded for free by clicking on the link to the right can be bought direct from the Forestry Commission or local outlets. New Forest Cycle Network can be started from Blackwater in New Forest. Situated north-west of Brockenhurst is the nearest town or village.
By car: from Lyndhurst take the A35 towards Christchurch, two miles out from Lyndhurst turn left into the Rhinefield Drive. Blackwater car park is located on the left hand side, approximately half a mile along the Drive.
