Birds: In springtime the flutting song of the Woodlarks will delight visitors to this area. On summer evenings it is the 'churring' of Nightjars that fascinates us. The areas most secretive and spectacular resident is the Goshawk. Your best chance of seeing one display above the canopy is on a fine morning in February or March. We have information about Nightjar and Woodlark
Insects and reptiles: Glow-worms bring a magic to Mayday on Summer evenings. They can be seen in the grass at the edges of the rides on warm evenings.
Habitats: The small ponds around this walk are vital in this dry Breckland area. They attract a variety of birdlife including Crossbills and Siskins and are breeding grounds for dragonflies and damselflies as well as toads. We have information about Pinewood and Lowland heath
