Brown Route (Horse)

(Average user rating3 unrated 3/5)
This horse riding trail starts from the Grove Car park (approximately two miles along the Forest Drive from the Visitor Centre). Turn left out of the car park and ride down the forest drive past the stone bridge. Turn left immediately after the Grove House and follow the forest road that runs parallel with the Grove boundary fence and the Euden beck. Do not go over the ford or into the Grove house driveway. From here it is easy to follow brown way-marking discs or painted rocks found at some junctions. This route goes up into the more remote parts of the forest passing through plantation and moor land. There are views over to Neighbour Moor house, the ruin of a shepherds cottage and a good chance to see birds of prey.

this seemed like a very long route (took us nearly 4 hours, mainly walking). Some signs were not too clear and some of the paths were very stoney for horses. It was a very pleasant ride but could be marked out better with more 'horse friendly' paths
