This route will take you right around the reservoir and past some beautiful scenery.

Explore the sensory displays, visit the fully accessible bird hide, or rest and admire the scenery at one of the benches, picnic tables, or resting platforms found along the route.

How to get there:

Discovery Trail can be started from Main Car Park in Wistlandpound. Blackmoor Gate is the nearest town or village.

From the A399/A39 at Blackmoor Gate follow the signs for Wistlandpound.

Wildlife

Birds: Pochard, goldeneye, teal and widgeon can all be seen out on the reservoir during the winter months, so take some binoculars and a thermos along to the bird hide if you are visiting at this time of year.

Later in the year spotted flycatchers and swallows frequent the area.
