Adventure Cycle Trail
Start your Haldon cycle adventure on this easy-going circular trail. It is fairly narrow, but has gentle gradients. Surfaces vary from stone to soil, but it is suitable for children’s bikes and tag-alongs.
Bike and tag-along hire available for this trail from Forest Cycle Hire.
How to get there:
Adventure Cycle Trail can be started from Haldon Gateway in Haldon Forest Park. Exeter is the nearest town or village.

Birds: Haldon's nationally important breeding population of nightjars conceal themselves in the open clear-fell areas beside this trail. Ground-nesting birds, they prefer the open brash-strewn habitat because it camouflages them so superbly. Our Rangers lead guided nightjar walks during the summer. We have information about Nightjar
Insects and reptiles: It is hoped many species will benefit from a restoration of the area to heathland, including reptiles such as the adder, and a host of butterflies, including the rare pearl-bordered fritillary and wood white. We have information about Adder and Pearl-bordered fritillary
Habitats: Part of the adventure cycle trail runs through a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Recently fenced off, we have introduced Black Galloway cattle to graze tough invasive plants, and restore the area to heathland.
