High Bowkerstead Walks

A choice of two trails which both take in Force Falls. In the last century, water from the falls was harnessed to power the local bobbin industry, but now it is free to tumble over the rocks on its way to the coast. The climb to High Bowkerstead is rewarded with fine views of the village of Satterthwaite, the Grizedale Valley and surrounding fell tops. Thereafter the descent from Bogle Crag leads into the beautiful and quiet valley of Dale Park.

How to get there:

High Bowkerstead Walks can be started from Blind Lane car park in Grizedale Forest Park. Satterthwaite is the nearest town or village.

From Grizedale Visitor Centre head south through the village of Satterthwaite. Turn east at Force Mills for High Dale Park and Hawkshead. The car park is on the left 200m after this turning.
