Red Deer Rut

About Red Deer Rut

Enjoy a minibus excursion into the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park with our Forest and Wildlife Rangers to experience the sights and sounds of the autumn rut. The event involves hill walking and requires a reasonable level of fitness; walking boots and waterproofs are essential. Remember to bring binoculars or telescope.

How to get there:

Red Deer Rut starts at The Lodge Forest Visitor Centre in Achray Forest which is part of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Aberfoyle is the nearest town or village.

From Glasgow follow the A81 north to Aberfoyle. From Stirling follow the A84(T), A873 then A81 south to Aberfoyle. From Callander follow the A81 south to Aberfoyle, or for a more scenic route take the A821 via the Trossachs. The visitor centre is a mile north of Aberfoyle on the A821 (Dukes Pass).
