The Grizedale Project

 

The Grizedale Project  is based in South Cumbria and extends across the area between Windermere and Coniston Water , from Hawkshead in the north to the A590 in the south This area is historically associated with the coppice and iron industries which has left a legacy of one of the most wooded Districts in England today. Grizedale Forest Park, which extends to 2500 ha of forest and farmland, is owned and managed by the Forestry Commission.

The Grizedale Project has a holistic vision for collaborative working across the whole landscape with the aim of delivering unique opportuntities for  for visitors, local communities and businesses.

The new Grizedale Centre will be the hub and catalyst providing access to the unique natural, built and cultural heritage of the Furness Fells within the Lake District National Park.

Latest News 

The Yan, our new Community Resource Centre was opened by Lord Clark, Chairman of the Forestry Commission on 23rd June 2008. The Yan  will be used by the Education Team and  signals an exciting phase for the provision of learning in Grizedale.
